ATL Events Group Shares Insight on Students as Entrepreneurs

The director of operations at ATL Events Group explored the possibility of successfully launching a business while still in college, and outlined the steps necessary to do so.

“At ATL Events Group, we admire the energy, passion, and willingness to learn and grow that so many college students and recent graduates embody,” said Brandon, the company’s director of operations. “In fact, these individuals are often the targets of our hiring initiatives. While we applaud those who aspire to become entrepreneurs after graduation, it’s important to note that there’s no reason not to get started before the completion of studies.”

Brandon pointed to several accomplished business leaders, such as Bill Gates, Larry Page, and Mark Zuckerberg, who started their ventures while they were still in college. He indicated that these men had clear plans of action, and that any student can aspire to great success with a detailed strategy of his or her own.

ATL Events Group’s Director Identifies the Essential Steps to Launching a Startup as a College Student

“There are six essential steps to getting a startup off the ground – or out of the dorm room, that is,” Brandon continued. “Our team members at ATL Events Group can attest that it isn’t easy, especially while juggling classes, but it’s more than possible. Evaluation is the first phase of the process. Students should consider the industries they’d like to access, as well as their strengths.”

According to Brandon, once college students have completed their self-evaluations they should identify needs in their respective industries. Doing so will help them generate satisfactory ideas. There should be demand for concepts, as well as targeted audiences.

“After you’ve settled on an idea, it’s time to research your competitors,” Brandon stated. “Look for them online and peruse print publications for their advertisements. Visit their trade shows and find reviews online. Subscribe to their newsletters. Find out whatever you can about their strengths and weaknesses. When you’ve done so, you’ll be ready to create your business plan. This includes a marketing strategy, budget, risk assessment, and more.”

“Prior to launch, I also encourage all soon-to-be entrepreneurs to develop relationships with coaches,” Brandon concluded. “Every professional can benefit from the guidance of someone who is knowledgeable in his or her field of interest – our new team members at ATL Events Group are always paired with coaches, to great benefit. When everything is in place, you’ll need to register your business for tax purposes. Then go for it!”
